Soooooooo it’s that time of the month. I get a lot of questions wondering how to work through period pain. Much like the period itself, no two women are alike and you have to do what works best for YOU!
Personally, my period is anything but predictable. Sometimes I have intense back pain, a bubbly tummy, headaches, and sometimes I don’t even get it at all. Birth control has helped a ton with the cramps and back pain, but when I still deal with it you can find me curled up on the sofa with my heating pad 😉 .
I don’t usually deal with more tiredness, but I know lots of women feel fatigued as part of their period.
My best advice is to just wait every month, see how you feel, and go from there. If you are sore, tired, and in pain, just rest or go for a short walk to get some fresh air. If you are feeling normal, get that workout in and train as usual!
I will say that your period can be a great “excuse” to skip the gym. Don’t just use your period as an excuse to miss your workout. If you truly feel like you can’t go to the gym – then don’t. But whenever I use an “excuse” like that to get out of a workout, I ask myself if I would also cancel dinner with friends. If the answer is no, be disciplined and get your butt moving.
It’s your body, listen to it!
